The worst part about any front wired airsoft gun is the huge, ugly PEQ box they come with.
They not only ruin the look of your airsoft gun, but they also can block the iron sights on some rifles. While some rifles have the ability to store your battery in the handguard, sometimes that space isn’t very large and won’t fit the batteries you wan to use. This was the case on my VFC MP5A5 and led to me looking for a better solution.
The Solution: The PTS Enhanced Polymer Foregrip
I chose the Enhanced Polymer Foregrip 2 (EPFG for short) from PTS Syndicate for this project because it would allow me to store the battery in the grip rather than the gun itself. The grip is able to do this because it’s hollow, and has an opening near the top for your wires to come out of the grip.
The foregrip’s size is a balance between comfort in your hand and battery space. While I find the width of this grip to be quite comfortable, it is a little longer than I’m used to. I personally use this 11.1V Lipo from Tenergy, which fits in the grip well without any rattling. You can slide the battery into the grip by opening the inner compartment with a small tab at the bottom of the grip.
The grip has raised dimples along the sides, which helps in getting a solid hold on it. It feels rock solid and the design is sleek and minimal like you’d expect on any product in the Enhanced Polymer line of products from PTS. They also offer this grip in a smaller version called the EPFG-S, but it lacks the opening at the top. It’s also hollow and has the tab at the bottom so you could still put something in there like a CR123A or 7.4V HPA batteries.
Overall, I love this foregrip. Not only is the utility of it fantastic, but it’s a great option even if you don’t need the battery space. If you’re like me and need the battery space, this is an excellent option for any front wired airsoft gun with rails.
