Spiritus Systems Bank Robber Chest Rig Review

Tactical Gear/Loadouts

I’ve been a huge fan of Spiritus Systems for a couple of years. Unhappy with options from other companies, I saw their flagship product, the Micro Fight Chest Rig, and instantly fell in love. While looking for something even smaller, I came across their Bank Robber chest rig. Let’s take a look at why I like this piece of gear so much.

This article is a companion piece to the video review of the Bank Robber, which you can watch here:

All Elastic Construction

What makes this chest rig truly unique is the materials used. Instead of using traditional nylon, Spiritus Systems chose to use elastic. This makes it possible to use a wide variety of items with this chest rig, and it will become almost flat when not in use.

The magazine cells can fit a wide variety of options: M4 mags, 5.45 AK mags, smoke grenades, radios, Odin Innovations speed loaders, beer cans, and so much more. It also has two pieces of bungee on each side for holding tourniquets.

In my Bank Robber, I have 3x PTS EPM midcap magazines, a Baofeng UV-5R radio and a Milsim West TQ

Compatibility with other Spiritus Systems Products

The Bank Robber can use either the “skinny” (shown above) or “fat” straps Spiritus Systems offers for their other chest rigs. This is important because straps are not included. Because the chest rig uses standard buckles, you can also use straps from other brands like Velocity Systems or Haley Strategic. The top buckles are 1″ ITW male, and the sides are 1″ ITW female.

This chest rig does not have any velcro, so attaching items such as the Spiritus Systems S.A.C.K. is not possible. If you need more kit than this chest rig can hold, I’d recommend looking at the Micro Fight Chest Rig, which is pictured next to the Bank Robber here.

The Micro Fight (right) has the Spiritus Systems S.A.C.K. attached. Both chest rigs can use the same strap.

Final Thoughts

Overall, I love this chest rig. It’s perfect for when I want to catch a quick game of CQB or just don’t have a need for a lot of kit. Because the chest rig has such a small profile, I can ball it up and toss it in a backpack and bring it to the field. The craftsmanship is excellent like any other Spiritus Systems product.

My only complaint would be the difficulty of reinserting items into the magazine cells. This is common with elastic pouches such as the Blue Force Gear TenSpeed pouches. I’d like small tabs at the top made of nylon to make inserting items easier or to add retention loops. Spiritus Systems has tabs like these on their elastic placards, so it’s doable. Maybe we’ll see this update in the future?

If you’d like to purchase a Bank Robber chest rig, make sure to check out Spiritus Systems’ website for information about their authorized dealers. Spiritus Systems products sell out very fast, and I’ve found it easier to purchase from retailers rather than the company directly, or from scalpers on eBay.
