These Are The BEST Investments You Can Make in Airsoft

Blog

If you’re anything like me, you’ve probably made some airsoft purchases that weren’t worth it. Maybe they were low quality and broke, they sat in your closet because you never ended up using them or you just didn’t like the product. There are a few items that I have bought over the years that I have felt are worth every penny, and today I want to focus on five airsoft products I have no regret buying.

#1 Good Eye Protection

Eye protection is something that every player owns, but I’ve found that they don’t pay much attention to it. Typically players will buy whatever fits well with their lower face mask, and that’ll be all they consider. You should buy the best eye protection that you can afford because you’ll start to see really helpful features as they go up in price. This will include better lenses to avoid fogging, more comfortable designs, and my favorite feature: a built in fan to help with fogging and comfort on hot days.

Me, wearing ESS TurboFan Goggles

I personally use ESS Turbofans which aren’t the cheapest goggles out there, but never having to worry about fogging has made them worth every penny I spent on them over 4 years ago. Make sure to treat your goggles with care, avoiding any scratches on the lens and you’ll have them for years to come.

#2 Odin Innovations Speedloader

Odin_Speedloader

Let’s just be honest about this: traditional speedloaders suck. They’re always narrower than your bottle of BBs so you spill them all over the place, they don’t hold much ammo, and the process of hitting the plunger over and over is so time consuming.

What I love about the Odin Innovations M12 Sidewinder Speedloader is that it saves me so much time between games and is easy to use. It holds 1600 BBs and loads midcap magazines with a crank on the side of the unit. This makes loading incredibly fast, taking about 10 seconds to load my PTS EPM midcaps which hold 150 BBs.

The Odin is more expensive than other options out there, but I think it’s worth the investment for the amount of time you save. My local field has a very short amount of time between their games, and the Odin gives me more time to drink water, have a snack or talk with friends. I’m able to spend more time enjoying the day rather than worrying about my gear.

The Odin Innovations speedloader is designed for use with M4 midcaps, but companies like Airsoft Junkies make adaptors for many types of magazines. A second version of the Odin is in development which will have the ability to accept different types of magazines but a release date has not been announced.

#3 Optic Protector

Optic Protector

I believe that a good optic is a worthwhile investment for your airsoft gun because of how it can improve the speed that you aim and is easier to use than iron sights. If you’ve been playing for awhile I’m sure you’ve seen someone who has had their optic shot out by a BB.

I like to think of these Lexan optic protectors in the same way I think about a screen protector for my phone. If I drop my phone, the protector will break but the screen wont, and the protector is much more affordable to replace. They’re typically under $25, and come with a few replacement sheets of Lexan.

#4 A Good Pair of Gloves

Getting shot in the hand or fingers is one of the most uncomfortable experiences in airsoft. A good pair of gloves is a great piece of kit to have to help protect your fingers from BBs or the environment you’re playing in. Personally, I use PIG Alpha gloves. I like them because they have incredibly thin palms, which gives me a level of dexterity that I haven’t found in other gloves. They’re also touch screen compatible which means I can use my phone while wearing them which is a nice touch (no pun intended.)

#5 Various Tools

tools

First off, I know this isn’t an airsoft product. That being said, getting a real set of tools has been a lifesaver for me in airsoft. I realized how much I needed a full set of tools once I got into HPA, and having everything I need in one convenient place saves me so much frustration when I work on my airsoft guns. My advice would be to get a good set of both metric and imperial Allen keys above all else, but it wouldn’t hurt to buy a basic tool kit and add to it based on your needs. For example, I have a 18″ long Phillips head screw driver for M4 buffer tubes which has saved me a lot of headache in the past. Plus, proper tools are just a great thing to have in general.
